Tutorial

Or read along these simple steps. The goal of extracting EXE files is to access the contents of the file. You can extract EXE files that are usually just self-extracting archives. I have made a video tutorial for modifying the Xbox 360 Controller Wireless Receiver drivers in this particular case. And received quite a lot of comments from people who were unable to get the files out of EXE container, so I decided it’s a good idea to make a tutorial that specifically addresses this issue. I have used the best free file archiver 7-Zip in this tutorial because everyone should have it installed!

Step are relatively simple:

  1. Go to https://www.7-zip.org/
  2. Check which Windows version you have 32 bit or 64 bit: search for About this PC
  3. Download and install 7-Zip.
  4. (optional) select the files you want 7-Zip to open.
  5. Select your EXE file; Right-click and select Extract.
  6. You did it!
